Privacy & taking part

What happens to what you share.

This page describes only what MIRA actually does today. Where something might change in the future, we say so separately.

01

What MIRA does today

Your answer is stored privately. It is not published, not shown to other participants and not shown on any public page — unless you choose The Echo, The Between or The Notice below. (The Mirror is never public.)

The Echo is optional. If you choose “Let my answer be part of The Echo,” MIRA may show your words, anonymously and without your name or anything about you, to other women after they answer the same question. A person at MIRA reads every answer first; not every answer is shown. It is never on a public page. Removing your answer on Your answers also removes it from The Echo.

The Between is optional and separate. If you choose “Let my answer be part of The Between,” a person at MIRA may place your words, anonymously and without your name or anything about you, beside two other women’s answers on a public experiment page, with a short note about what might connect them. Most answers are never used. You can turn this off on Your answers at any time; removing your answer also removes it.

The Notice is optional and separate. If you choose “Let my answer be part of The Notice,” a person at MIRA may read your answer alongside many others and, when MIRA writes a short, tentative note about something it keeps noticing, may share your words anonymously as an example on a public experiment page — never with your name or anything about you. It is written by a person, not AI, and is not a research finding. Most answers are never shown. You can turn this off on Your answers at any time; your words then stop appearing at once and won’t be used again for The Notice. Your answer itself stays private and saved.

The Mirror is optional and separate from The Echo, The Between and The Notice. If you choose “Let MIRA reflect on my answer,” a person at MIRA may choose your answer and write a short private reflection on it. Only you can see it, on Your answers in this browser. It is written by a person, not AI, and most answers won’t receive one. Your answer remains unchanged. If you reply to a reflection, your reply stays private too. You can turn The Mirror off on Your answers; that answer can then never be used for The Mirror again, and any reflection on it disappears.

AI does not read answers today. AI analysis of real answers is switched off.

A small number of people working on MIRA can read answers, to look after them and to notice what women describe.

MIRA does not sell your story or your personal data, and does not use it for advertising.

02

Anonymous or named

Anonymous is the default. You don’t need an account or an email address to answer.

If you choose to share with a name, it is kept separately from your answer’s words. Anonymous means we don’t attach a name. Your words could still identify you, so leave out details you don’t want known.

03

Age range and region

Both questions are optional, and you can skip either one. They use broad groups only (for example “35–44” or “Europe”).

They help compare experiences across many women. They are never used to identify you. Small groups are not shown on their own.

04

AI analysis permission

When you answer, you can say yes to your answer being included in future AI-assisted pattern analysis, alongside many other answers. This is optional. Saying no doesn’t change anything else.

Today, saying yes does not mean AI reads your answer, and it does not mean your answer will be published. Your name and direct identifiers are never part of that analysis.

You can give or withdraw this permission later on Your answers. If you withdraw, your answer is left out of any future analysis.

05

Your controls

On Your answers you can see what you shared from this browser, how you shared it and your AI permission. You can also remove an answer.

Removing an answer erases its words and any name you gave, and it is no longer used for anything.

MIRA’s records are backed up automatically once a day, and backups are kept for about 14 days. Something you remove can stay in those backups until they expire, and it cannot be taken out of a backup sooner. Backups are only used to recover from a fault, and anything removed is removed again after any recovery.

There are no accounts. You don’t need one to see or remove what you shared.

06

Your answers

If you take part without an account, MIRA uses a private browser-based method to show you the answers you submitted in the same browser you used to take part. This lets you review, manage or remove your own answers without needing an account or an email address.

Your answers are not publicly visible, and other participants cannot access them through this system.

If you clear your browser data, switch browsers, or use a different device, you may lose access to answers previously submitted from that browser. MIRA does not use this browser-based access to identify you by name.

07

What MIRA does not collect

No account, no password and no phone number. We don’t ask for an email address to answer, we don’t collect precise location, and we don’t track you for advertising.

If you leave a question on Ask MIRA, it is stored without your name and is not linked to your answers.

If you sign up to Stay in the loop, your email is kept separately and is never linked to your answers. MIRA isn’t sending emails yet.

08

What may happen in the future

As MIRA grows, people working on MIRA may look across many answers together, sometimes with AI assistance. If that happens, it will only include answers whose authors said yes to AI analysis, and only after an approved review process.

Anything MIRA gives back is collective. A person reviews it before anyone sees it, and it never singles anyone out. If these practices change materially, we’ll ask again rather than apply new terms to answers you’ve already given.

09

Who can take part

MIRA is about the lives and experiences of women. It is for women aged 18 and over, wherever they live. We don’t ask you to prove who you are.

Taking part is always voluntary. Please don’t share anything that would put you or someone else at risk.

10

Questions or problems

You can remove your own answers at any time on Your answers. You don’t need to ask anyone first.
